中远太平洋有限公司于1994年12月在香港连交所上市，是世界集装箱运输业内的一家领先企业，其经营的两大核心业务是集装箱租赁和集装箱码头。目前属下的集装箱租赁箱队规模达71万标准箱，是世界第五大集装箱租箱公司，占全球9.3％的份额，并在全球四大洲设有8个办事处及200个集装箱堆场。
中远太平洋与泉州在半年前达成合作，自合作以来，港口建设成效明显，货物吞吐量增长和航线开辟取得突破。2006年，泉州GDP总量超过1900亿元，增长15％，经济指标增幅为近年最高，预计这年泉州市经济将继续保持良好发展势头，大项目带动和新兴产业发展也将为今年泉州经济发展奠定了良好基础。
合作双方都对发展前景充满信心。相信随着双方合作的逐渐深入，将会是一个双赢的结果。中远方表示还将进一步加大对泉州港口、码头的投资力度，深化与石湖、秀涂和围头码头等项目的合作，并计划在石湖港建设东南沿海最大的石材交易中心。
这也使得占据天时地利，近来又得到诸多政策支持的石湖港迎来发展的又一新机遇。

Ater COSCO Pacific cooperated with Quanzhou in half a year,they have achieved good results in port struction and the break through has been obtained in the cargo handling capacity of a port and the Route opening.
In 2006,the GDP of Quanzhou reached more than 190 billion ,up by 15%.And ampplificayion of economic indicator is the highest in recent years,it's no doubt that steady growth will be kept in the economy of Quanzhou .The impetus of the big project and the deuelopment of cooperate are full of confidence to the development prospect.As both parties cooperate furcher,it will be double wins.COSCO Pacific expressed they will enlarge the investment to Quanzhou harbor and wharf,deepen the cooperation in items,srch as Shi Hu,Xiutu and Weitou whorf and plan to construct the southeast circumlittoral trading center of the biggest stone material in Shihu harbor.
